Andy Rourke

Such sad news today of Andy Rourke passing away.

He will be missed and my thoughts are with his family at this time.

Thanks for some wonderful bass lines, you dazzled and shone bright.

  1. Yes, a bass legend. I'm sure he did more for The Smiths and the songs themselves than what people give him credit for and of course he wrote a couple of songs for Morrissey in his early solo career too. I still think the solo songs were pretty decent and it's a shame he wasn't hired with Gannon to write a couple of albums worth of material. A massive missed opportunity in my opinion as Andy obviously had plenty of unused talent.

It was lovely to read all the band members heartfelt tributes. I think Andy may have been the only member who could have attempted to reunite them all, but he must have known very early on that it just wasn't worth the hassle and lived for a quiet life. I don't blame him.

Long live Andy Rourke, may your bass lines live forever.
