I have re-tracked it using fades to make it more listenable.

It ran a little slow so have adjusted that, pitch was off as well.

A great job capturing this show, without it what would we have?!

This bootleg has done the rounds for ages under many names.

A version can be found here on the blog credited to John Kend,

there is a Greek vinyl version as well.

All came from Dave's recording.

This is miles better (IMO).

I will leave the other version on the blog for those that want to compare.

A sample from each if you want to see if you want this first.

Dr Dave reached out and offered his metal master recording. 

So here it is after transferring/restoring & remastering

It needed some restoration & the channels balancing.

Fixed various glitches (as above) & clicks.

Did some editing & finally some remastering.

There are still some things I could not fix:

Phasing & occasional whooshing effects.

Also some of the channels are not balanced as well as I would have liked.

Distorted vocals in many/various places.

For all that it is still a better version than what existed already.

Unless someone else recorded it better than the good doctor (which I very much doubt), 

or a soundboard surfaces this is likely to be the best version we will have.

This is a MUST for Sisters fans.

There are talkers on here, but not to bad overall, 

but this is probably for hardcore fans only & collectors.

Overall this is great.

Had/still has some noise issues when the volume is quiet.

Did what I could to remove as much as possible.

Needed loads of restoration, remastered well & then I re-tracked the files, flows better.

If you have the original & can cope with the nosie then this is for you.

These files are 24 bit 48hz, so if you want to burn them to a CD you will need to down sample.

I can remember watching this live on the BBC way back when.

This one Eric sent to me.

In his words "it's a cluster f***"

Did what I could with it, took quite a lot of time...

Frequency issue...

Spek says these are lossy, but after a lot of investigation we decided to leave them in flac.

They came as WAV's.

If you want you can convert them to mp3.

I am still unsure on these.

Took a lot of restoration, then some remastering.

Removed as much DJ chatter as was possible.

All things considered not that bad, if you like The Furs then this is for you.

Before/after samples for your consideration.

This was in a bit of a state when I got round to working on it.

It suffered from all manner of noise issues: 

Tape hiss/clicks/static bursts you name it was on here!

So...

This took ages to clean up, it is now the best it can be for my skill set .

No more clicks/static & the hiss is much more under control.

There is still some noise present, but much improved.

I couldn't do much with remastering just some gentle touches.

Track 9 fades out for the tape flip.

Track 10 fades in.

Track 18 I have faded as it just cut off.

If you like early sisters then this could be for you,

If you have the original this is well worth upgrading to.

Great quality with a few issues:

#1 - Tried to fix the dropouts mentioned in the original notes & failed!

#2 - Suffered from clipping which is fixed.

#3 - I have removed all the chat with fades, flows so much better.

The only music lost by the fades is the start of "Chelsea Girl" the beginning was talked over.

And "At The End Of The Universe" the ending was talked over.

Really turned out well with the remastering, glorious!

So a few minor issues but even with them this is most excellent!

If Ride are you thing then is for you.

This has had a fair amount of restoration.

Was then speed corrected (it ran to fast).

Finally some really light touches with the remastering.

Talkers not to bad only in between songs & quite moments.

There is still some tape hiss present (especially if you wear headphones).

Removed all that I could, listen via speakers it is fine.

Tracks 14 onwards suffer from tape stretch, all sounds a bit wobbly.

So....

If you can live with the hiss & the odd wobble this has much to recommend it.

Spek reports lossy @ 192kbps so that is what is offered here.

Needed lots of restoration, had this (very) annoying "ting" noise going on.

Managed to sort it out but couldn't push it dynamically with much remastering.

So this is mainly a restoration effort.

Doesn't help matters being so lossy in source.

It sounds umhhh... okay for what it is, 

may be just for hardcore fans, more than the casual listener.

Wendy James:

Nick wrote Baby I Don’t Care about my best friend who he was rather taken with. 

I think it was his way of telling her that she didn’t have to love him in return 

because he loved her anyway. 

Verse two – “You can tell me all your stories but spare me the plays” – 

is a reference to her aspirations to be an actor. 

Some years later, she took her life: the song is particularly moving now.

Zeus B Held, producer:

I sent the rest of the band home so I could work on the vocals with Wendy alone. 

It was obvious that she was new to this, but you can hear her energy, 

soul and passion on the record.

The famous scream at the beginning was an accident. 

Luckily, I always turn the record button on 20 seconds before a track starts, 

and she just let out this huge scream just to loosen up her voice, 

like a boxer entering the ring. 

I remember the engineer and I looking at each other and going “That’s great!” 

We asked her to do a few more but her initial roar had something raw, 

so that’s the one we used. 

Pop songs don’t normally start with a scream. 

I don’t think Madonna did that.
